On May 14, 2024, Georgia Ann Ames Broughton Pringle was ushered into her heavenly home surrounded by her loving husband, Gerald, his daughters' families, and her sister, Linda.
She was born on July 15, 1952, to Charles RV and Laura (Larson) Ames in Osakis, Minnesota. Growing up the fifth of six children, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilford, Charles Benjamin, and Phillip, who all succumbed to heart disease in mid-adulthood. She was a graduate of New Haven High School in New Haven, Indiana. As a young woman, she was an active participant in the Civil Air Patrol.
Georgia and Robert Broughton were united in marriage and made their home in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. They briefly moved to Girard, Kansas, with their pre-teen daughter, Colleen, before making their home in the mountains of North Carolina. Colleen had two children to whom Georgia was very attached and loved dearly. In 2014, Robert succumbed to many illnesses. After his death, Georgia joined her sister, Linda, in Kansas.
While attending a wedding, Georgia was introduced to Rev. Gerald Pringle. Romance blossomed and they were married in 2016 at their home in Edna, Kansas. The beautiful wedding day surrounded by family grew into a wonderful, happy life for Georgia. She felt blessed with Gerald's large, close family, that she had always desired. Gerald's beautiful daughters, Tammy and Teresa, were her blessings, along with their children and grandchildren. She was so in love with Gerald, that her personality grew, and she glowed with happiness and peace.
She was an avid reader, hobbyist, trained sous chef, and decorator of dozens, perhaps hundreds, of cakes. Her greatest joy was coming to accept Jesus Christ and being baptized at the Open Door Fellowship of Pittsburg, Kansas.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Gerald Pringle, of the home; a daughter, Colleen Broughton Week; granddaughter, Paisley; grandson, Tyreese; sisters, Linda Ames Pollom Kallaus of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Laurie Ames Stevens of Maypearl, Texas; sisters-in-law, Judy Ames of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Therese Ames of Embarrass, Minnesota; step-daughters, Tammy (Sandy) Wilborn of Chelsea, Oklahoma, and Teresa Hallam of Columbus, Kansas; Gerald's grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert; three brothers; and sister-in-law, Retha Ames Christlieb
Services will begin with Fellowship from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Bartlett Community Church, with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Cremation was under the care of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
