Oliver Davidson

Oliver Lee Davidson, 91, of rural Girard, passed away at 2:41 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Medicalodge of Frontenac.

He was born October 16, 1932, the son of Orval and Mary J. (Price) Davidson at Cornell, Kansas.

On July 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Patricia Louise Smith. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2017.

Mr. Davidson was a maintenance-away foreman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad company until his retirement.

Mr. Davidson served in the Korean War with the United States Army, before being Honorably discharged.

Oliver attended Lighthouse Tabernacle in Pittsburg and the First Christian Church in Girard. He was also a member of the VFW.

Survivors include one daughter and two sons: Debby (Jim) Hughes, Canon City, Colorado; Jim (Gaille) Davidson, Girard, Kansas; Richard (Brenda) Davidson, Fairland, Oklahoma; and one brother, Galen (Carol) Davidson, Pittsburg, Kansas; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers: Lyle Davidson, Wayne "Chub" Davidson, Orval "Shorty" Davidson; six sisters, Doris Morris, Mildred Colles, Gretchen Sells, Elfie Spragg, Mary Ann Swartz, and Velda "Babe" Pitts; one granddaughter, Marquita Hasley; and one great-grandson, Kaden Drake Hughes.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may leave condolences online. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
