Nancy L. Johnson, 77, of Pittsburg, passed away at 5:44 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born February 1, 1947, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Byron A. and Mary (Beauchamp) Deill. She graduated from College High and later as an RN from KU Medicine.
Ms. Johnson was a co-owner of Broadway Lumber, but preferred the role of mother.
Membership was held in the First Christian Church of Pittsburg.
Nancy was a bright light with the softest, kindest spirit. She took her mother in eleven years ago and cared for her – they were the best of friends. Those around her often described her as a saint.
Survivors include a son, John Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas; a daughter, Elyse Johnson of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her mother, Mary Deill of Pittsburg.
She was preceded in death by her father, Byron.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (May 23) at Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Dustin Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brenner Mortuary.
